About

The German Boxer dog.

The German Boxer dog originated way back in the late 17th century. The boxer dogs ancestors were found to be the Mastiff type dog, the Molossian hound. Later the hound was introduced with the Bullenbeiszer. The Bullenbeiszer’s roots have been traced back to Belgium where they were found to be brilliant hunting and working dogs. These dogs were originally bred to hunt wild Boar and was also used for working with cattle as well.

In the mid 19th century the dog was introduced with the English Bull dog and became how we all know it today - the “Boxer” breed.

With the Boxer dog’s fine temperament, grace and affection it really makes a brilliant family pet. Luckily the Boxer dog is a clean canine with it’s short coat of hair all it needs is a wipe down and the occasional bath. The Boxer dogs coat comes in Brindle and fawn - some patchy tan colours.

Most Boxer dogs are quite intelligent but a lot are known to be very boisterous  and playful, the Boxer dog does find training fun and learns very easily and quickly (when there are treats involved!).

Some Boxer dogs tend to become quite broad and stocky, they are very protective dogs and a proud breed to have.
